Dev Log #4 User Interface and Game Environment

User Interface

Fixing the UI as suggested in our playtests of the previous build. A complete makeover of the UI to ensure readability and visibility to all players who will play the game. This is a crucial part of the UI, creating a new UI that is easier to read and to engage and interact with. As for the artist of the project, designing a more appealing and easy-on-the-eyes UI, making sure the UI doesn’t in any way interfere with the enjoyability of the game. As previously the UI was predominantly designed in all capitals. Using the references of colour blindness’, high contrast makes it easier to distinguish a player who has some sort of colour blindness.

Also, creating a different style of font will make it easier for a person with dyslexia to read our UI. Taking all into consideration, the improvement of the UI and making it match our style for the game.

Working on other Assets

Going onwards on our build, working on the cobbled stones and ensuring that it matches our game's aesthetic and style we are going for. Designing sprites for the stones which is in progress now, fences and progressing on key assets that will be important for the game environment.

Game Environment

Creating assets that match our style of aesthetic of the environment which focuses on gothic Metroid-Vania-esque through the lens of a PS2. Keeping the style relevant to the game, making sure the consistency of style does not change. The environment creates the game more alive, going forward hoping to have more updates soon, we’ll keep you updated.
