The Team
Here is the Púca Studios team!
- Seán Dunne – Project Lead
- Rhys Macgregor-Mason – Coder
- Andre Vysotskyi – Asset Designer
- Amelia Plocharczyk – Asset Designer
- Ethan Jobus – Coder
We are fourth year Game Design (TU984) students in Technological University Dublin. Together Púca Studios hopes to make an interesting game for our players and to also show what we have learned over the four years of our game design course.
The Game Concept
A 3D Roguelike and Metroidvania where the player uses spells to combat enemies and explore. As you delve deeper into the level you find new spells to use. By using your spells in combination, they mix into new abilities with unique properties. With your newfound spells and combos, you gain the power to take on more challenging foes and travel to previously inaccessible parts of the level. Use any or every path at your disposal fighting rooms of enemies and unlocking secrets to earn the best rewards before taking on the boss waiting for you at the end.
What has been done?
On the Itch right now is a basic skeleton build that we made just to make sure our level generation is working, which we are happy to say is working well. Ethan is currently working on further improvements to level generation with adding some room size variation to help to make each run of the game feel new and fresh. Rhys has made great progress on the inventory and spell system which is the backbone of our game. Currently the basic interactions have been made, we are also working on adding some more spell to environment interactions to help further diversify possible runs you can do. Andre is currently working on more Environment assets so we can have a good amount of set dressing elements ready for the vertical slice on the 13/12/2024, he has also made placeholder UI elements so we can start to shape how we want our final UI to start to look. Amelia finalized the design of our player model and is currently working on the rigging. Seán is setting up the design of each room and making sure that there are no issues with the level generation. He is also working on the UI functionality.
What’s Coming?
This Friday, 13/12/2024, we will be releasing the vertical slice of our game. The vertical slice of the game will show off the core mechanics of project spellbinder, the core mechanics being our spell combinations with the different elements interacting in fun and interesting ways as well as some of the enemies and a sample section of the game environment and level.
Thanks for reading.
