Dev Log #2 Vertical Slice
Vertical Slice
The Vertical Slice was uploaded and here are our three big take aways,
- We need to re-design both our level layout and rooms
- Combat was too sparce and wasn’t a good indication of how we want it to work
- Camera needs work to allow for better view and control of the player
Level and Room Layout
To address the level issues, we will be switching to a more static level layout but retaining the random aspects of the rooms. This allows us to make the level feel more solid while retaining some randomness to add to the replayablity.
For the layout of the rooms themselves we will be doing a more serious dive into our design philosophies for each one.
Combat
Combat is going to be our biggest focus as we work towards an alpha build of our game. We will be fleshing out the spell combinations and feel as we approach the alpha.
Camera
For the camera we are going to make it static, this should allows us to make the game visually feel more polished as well as keep the player from needing to worry about its positioning.
Thanks for reading,
